About 17 months after announcing their cooperation with the ZHDC, Bluesign is now becoming a ZDHC contributor. After initially agreeing to work together on methodology, structure, and criteria as well as higher level verifications. Based on the bluesign® SYSTEM, a remarkable number of chemical products from the bluesign® FINDER, Bluesign’s list of 12,000+ positive chemical products, will now be added to the ZHDC Gateway™ - highest verification level. The upload will include chemical products from 190+ chemical suppliers.

Since 2000, Bluesign has used a scientific chemical assessment to evaluate the hazards of 25,000 chemical formulations to create the first and most comprehensive positive list. From this assessment, over 12,000 commercially available chemical products have been approved to produce textiles and leather. These products collectively make up the bluesign® FINDER. The chemical products from the bluesign® FINDER will be recognized at level 3 in the ZDHC Gateway™ - Chemical Module. The bluesign® SYSTEM monitors over 900 chemical substances, including over 600 banned substances based on both the precautionary principle and legal bans, and adheres to the industry’s Manufacturing Restricted Substance Lists (MRSL) and Restricted Substance Lists (RSL).

What is bluesign® standart?

It is one of the standards which help companies in textile industry to move towards its sustainability goals. Founded in 2000 in Switzerland and in 2008, SGS, an international testing company, became a shareholder. The bluesign® standard includes chemical suppliers, textile manufacturers and major brands and retailers with a holistic approach.

Unlike other standards, bluesign covers sustainability parameters such as environmental and resource efficiency, product synthesis processes and life cycle, as well as consumer safety. It acknowledged that achieving more with less resources is a key to sustainability.

Important principles of bluesign® standard

• Resource efficiency
• Occupational Health and Safety
• Water emissions
• Air emissions
