REACH

REACH is an EU regulation regarding the registration, usage, permission and limitation of chemical substances. It took effect on 1 June 2007 and replaced a number of EU regulations and directives with a common system.

Setaş follows REACH and the obligations it brings closely, through the website of the IMMIB (Istanbul Mineral and Metals Exporters Association), the REACH helpdesk, and announcements from the ECHA (European Chemicals Agency). The company then fulfills all legal requirements, and makes the necessary arrangements and applications. In this way, starting from the date on which REACH took effect, Setaş has completed pre-registration of all products and materials present in the European Inventory of Existing Commercial chemical Substances (EINECS). Following pre-registration, these product and materials will be continue to be presented to the ECHA until 2018, and thus exports to the EU will not be interrupted during the transitional period.

In accordance with this, Setaş is also monitoring the list of Substances of Very High Concern published by the ECHA on 28 October 2008 and its annexes and updates, as well as the Council of Europe's implementations of limits on perilous substances embedded in Annex XVII of the REACH regulation. None of these substances are used in Setaş' production facilities.
